Sheltered Workshop

Made in Hong Kong sheltered workshops. Made in Hong Kong sheltered workshops · premium hand-stitched leather

Premium Hand-Stitched Leather.

We build long-term, deep partnerships with sheltered workshops, using a refined leather-artisan training system. With leather craft as our medium, we tailor skills training and mentoring to each trainee's individual abilities. Trainees not only learn the craft of leatherwork but also gain the opportunities they need to integrate into society. At the same time we are committed to advancing the idea of social inclusion, so that society can see and appreciate the value and potential of people with disabilities.

Our deep collaboration with sheltered workshops.

To break down the public's traditional stereotypes of sheltered workshops, Broken Fingers+ has built a two-way partnership system with local workshops that balances professional output with trainee development, spanning the following four core areas:

01

Supported Work Environment

Each workshop is staffed with a team of professional vocational instructors and social workers. Based on each trainee's physical condition and individual abilities, we provide targeted skills training and offer the most appropriate psychological and care support in daily work, ensuring they can work steadily in a safe and respectful environment.

02

Production-Line Workflow

We break down the intricate French saddle-stitch leather process into several standardised core stages, and assign departments according to each trainee's strengths (such as the cutting, punching, hand-stitching and edge-finishing departments). Through this production-line teamwork, each trainee plays their part, together building a professional handcraft production line that combines high efficiency with retail-grade quality.

03

Progressive Career Ladder

We firmly believe that people with disabilities have the potential for continued growth, so we have built a clear career ladder within the workshop. Trainees begin as a "Leather Apprentice"; after gaining experience and passing an assessment, they are promoted to "Leather Artisan". Artisans who excel and have strong communication skills have the chance to advance to "Leather Teaching Assistant", leading public workshops alongside us.

04

Fair & Inclusive Income Sharing

To genuinely strengthen our trainees' financial independence, we are committed to a fair-trade inclusive sharing mechanism, channelling 15% of this collection's sales revenue directly to the trainees as income. This not only meaningfully raises each artisan's personal pay, but also injects a steady cash flow into our partner sheltered workshops, strengthening the financial stability of the organisations as a whole.
